On April 28, 2021, Securities Commission Malaysia ("SC") released an updated version of the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance ("MCCG"), which includes the introduction of new best practices and additional guidance to strengthen the governance culture of corporate Malaysia.
Some of the key updates:
👉 Duration for Independent Directors' Tenure;
👉 Disproportionate Remuneration to Liability;
👉 Selection of Directors and their Legal Responsibilities;
👉 Requirement of 30% Women Directors in BoD; and
👉 Maintenance of independence – Audit Committee and Auditors
