1.1.2021 - 30.6.2022: from 11% to 9%
As a result of the announcement made on Budget 2021, the statutory EPF contribution rate for employees was reduced from 11% to 9% beginning on January 1, 2021.
This will apply to wages earned beginning in January 2021 (the contribution month will be February 2021) and continuing through wages earned in June 2022 (the contribution month will be July 2022).
Amendment Order
On 28 June 2022, the Minister, in the exercise of the powers conferred by section74 of the Employees Provident Fund Act 1991 [Act 452], gazetted the Employees Provident Fund (Amendment of Eighth Schedule) Order 2022 [P.U (A) 219/2022].
1.7.2022 onwards: from 9% to 11%
The employee contribution rate to the EPF has been increased from 9% to 11% following the gazette of the Amendment Order on July 1, 2021.
This indicates that the EPF member contribution rate will revert to the original 11% beginning with the salary for July 2022.
